What data we collect and why

We only process personal data that you actively provide to us through the contact form on this site, namely your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this data solely to respond to your inquiry.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in responding to inquiries about our services). Under Swiss law, the corresponding basis is your implicit consent under Art. 31(1) revDSG.

We do not use advertising, tracking cookies, or any form of cross-site profiling on this website.

Analytics

We use Fathom Analytics (Conva Ventures Inc., 1100–1095 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 2M6, Canada) to understand aggregate usage of this website. Fathom is a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics service: it does not set cookies, does not track visitors across websites, and does not collect or store personally identifiable information. Visitor IP addresses and user-agent strings are pseudo-anonymized through a salted SHA-256 hash, and the hash salts are deleted approximately every 24 hours, making it infeasible to re-identify visitors after that point.

Fathom automatically routes visitors from the EU/EEA (and from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) to its European servers, located in Germany and Finland, where IP addresses are stripped before any data reaches non-EU infrastructure (“EU Isolation”). Visitors from outside this region are routed to Fathom’s North American servers. As the routing is determined automatically at the CDN edge, no personal data of EU/EEA or Swiss visitors is transferred outside the EU.

Where any transfer of personal data to Canada does occur (for example, for visitors from outside the EU/EEA), it takes place under the European Commission’s adequacy decision for Canada (Commission Decision 2002/2/EC), which recognises Canada as providing an adequate level of data protection.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in measuring and improving the performance of our website. Fathom’s privacy policy is available at https://usefathom.com/legal/privacy.

Hosting and infrastructure

Our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) and delivered through the Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) content delivery network, which also provides basic security functions. Both providers act as processors on our behalf and process technical information such as your IP address and request metadata in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse.

Transfers of personal data to the United States take place on the basis of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, in which both Netlify and Cloudflare are certified participants, and the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission. Their privacy policies are available at https://www.netlify.com/privacy/ and https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ respectively.

Retention

We retain contact-form submissions for as long as needed to handle the inquiry and, where relevant, for the duration of any subsequent business relationship plus the statutory retention periods that apply under Swiss law (typically up to ten years for commercial correspondence under Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations). Messages that do not lead to a business relationship are deleted within twelve months.
